Firstdateaversary

In some ways, 16 years seems like an eternity. In others, 16 years feels like just yesterday. That being the case, one eternal yesterday ago today, Sir William whisked me off on our first date. I had known him for some time through a college roommate. You see, he drove a vintage (i.e. old and decrepit) truck and helped us move from apartment to apartment throughout our college career. Lugging a washer and dryer up, and then down, three flights of stairs must not have been a deal breaker, because one day out of the blue he called the house…for me.

In truth, George Strait and some chick that cancelled on Sir William are responsible for what followed. He likes to say he saved the best for last, but I’m no dummy. I wasn’t his first choice to take to the concert that night, though I didn’t know it at the time. No, that little tidbit came out AFTER the lovely sunset dinner and world-class entertainment (yep, he’s no dummy either).

That would be the first of many plot twists in our romance rife with heroes and villains. But hey, what good love story doesn’t have a few of those? In the end, the good guys triumphed, and by George (quite literally, I might add) 16 years and a wholelotta moves later, here we are!

  1. George Strait has a part in my love story too. Our song was something about "oceanfront property in Arizona". Who knew we'd actually live in Arizona someday!

  2. What a handsome prince you snagged! I bet you had to kiss a lot of frogs along the way. :o)
