Wii Sing

Last year, The Squire and his sister saved their pennies and purchased their own Wii game system. Sounds too practical doesn't it? Well, Wii practice delayed gratification. Wii don’t always get what Wii want the minute Wii want it. The lesson Wii hope to teach is Wii work hard to get the things Wii want. So when he wanted the Wii hooked up to the 52 inch TV, whattaya think Wii did? Of course! Wii made him earn it. Wii implemented a little something Wii call Wii Sing. To explain, Hymns are an important part of our church meetings. The Squire was not participating. To remedy this, Wii let him know Wii would connect the Wii to the large TV if he agreed to sing congregational Hymns in church—

FOR THE REST OF HIS NATURAL LIFE.

Wii can’t believe it worked. Wii LOVE Wii! Know what's even better? Wii didn’t even have to buy it!

Closed on Sunday

Lady May has the wonderful ability to entertain herself for hours and hours conjuring up imaginary fun. It is an especially useful quality for a girl without a sister to play with. However, the amusement typically ends with a huge mess that she does not want to clean up. On such an occasion, Lady May had been playing “Office”. She carefully constructed an elaborate cubicle and a desk, complete with family photos, a bulletin board, and an inbox. We exchanged correspondence for quite some time that afternoon. As the day wore on, she eventually lost interest and must have clocked out. Her office sat unattended for many days until Sir William decided to put her out of business. It was a Sunday when Lady May discovered her office had been demolished. As you can imagine, she wasn’t happy. I explained that because she had failed to report to work lately, we needed to use the space in a different way. Disgusted, she responded:

But mom, I don’t work on Sundays!

Preserving My Constitutional Right:

"The right of the people to keep and BARE Arms, shall not be infringed."

Against my better judgment, I bought a new top. It’s not that it was a bad choice because of the economic crunch or that I don’t enjoy buying new clothes. On the contrary, Sir William would argue I like to keep our money where I can see it—hanging in my closet! My hesitation was because the top is short-sleeved.

To explain, I recently had the misfortune of seeing myself in a photo wearing cap sleeves. My arms looked GINORMOUS! It was insulting. I haven’t exerstarved for the last year to be seen with monster arms, so I hastily banned all tops with sleeves above the elbow. No more short-sleeves. Not even when it’s a bazillion degrees outside in the summer. Not even if it’s a designer, hot pink, farewell to winter top with tuxedo ruffles at Ross for ten bucks that fits me like I was born to wear it, short-sleeved shirt. Nope--not even that one.

Well, at least that’s how it was until I told a friend of my error: “It’s the tuxedo ruffles. You know my weakness for tuxedo ruffles. The thing practically jumped in my cart. Aggghhh! I need an intervention!!”

There was a pause, and then she intervened in the way only a true friend can: “You need big arms to carry the burden you have to bear!”

So there it is.

I have big arms to be thankful for and good friends to lift me when the weight of them begins to drag me down…

Oh, and a really cute hot pink short-sleeved top with tuxedo ruffles. All is right with the world once again.
